Only Nkrumah provided mass quality education -CPP

Accra, April 16 GNA - Dr. Edmund Delle, National Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP) on Friday said any government that cannot educate the mass of its citizens should not have the mandate of the people to rule.

He said after the overthrow of the Nkrumah regime no government has been able to provide mass quality education to the people. Dr. Delle made this statement when he formally inaugurated the University of Ghana Branch of the CPP (TESCHART) at Legon, near Accra. The inauguration, which attracted some of the top personalities in the party, was on the theme: "CPP as the alternate government for the youth- Women work and happiness".

Dr. Delle also cautioned people not to think of coming to the CPP to make money because the party was a selfless one.

He called on the youth in the party to carry the message of party to their colleagues on campus, about the visionary policies of Dr. Kwame Nrumah.

Mr. Oteng Anane, National Youth Organiser of the Party said the vision of the CPP should be to groom the youth to take over the leadership of the party in the near future.

He called for selflessness, dedication and hardwork among the youth to revamp the party's structures in all tertiary institutions. Mr Anane also said TESCHART executives as well as other youth from the various regions would be co-opted to form a National Youth League (NYL) with the responsibility of working towards the December elections. He said study groups in all the constituencies would be established to discuss pertinent national issues, of which the various TESCHART branches would be instrumental.

Later Dr. Delle swore into office a seven-member executive with Mr. Daniel Rhudkiln Owusu as its President.

The rest are Mr. Philip Anann, Vice President; Mr. Francis Gyan Nwiah, secretary; Mr. Peter Amegashie, financial secretary; Mr. Akomea Osei, treasurer; Mr Gbang Vitus, organizing secretary and Ms Margaret Ewusi, women organiser .
