Only a cash cow can unseat Titus Glover - Moshake

The Tema East Parliamentary seat, which is currently occupied by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Titus Glover, can only be annexed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate with, a man of serious financial muscle to do so.

“People may be disenchanted and are ready to vote out the whole of the NPP in Tema East, but we will need serious money to carry out a serious campaign, and also serious security during the election,” Mr Stephen Ashitey Adjei, who is popularly called Moshake, said in a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

According to him, the state of affairs made it imperative that the NDC elected former Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Kempes Ofosuware, for the Tema East Parliamentary ticket for 2020.

“There are a number of richly qualified people for the Parliamentary ticket including; Baba Abu Abdulai, a former constituency Secretary, Mr. Noah Afedo, a businessman in the food industry and Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, a U.S based lecturer and a former Mayor of Tema, but none of them is as winsome as Kempes; and none of them has the kind of proper connections to raise the kind of money that we need for a good campaign,” Moshake said.

"Politics is not about who is an indigene or Mr Asphalts roads, but a person who has the financial wherewithal to win political laurels."

Moshake also pointed out that Kempes had beaten Titus Glover before in Parliamentary elections, only to controversially lose to the NPP MP by three votes in 2012 after a recount that Kempes should never have allowed.

“In 2016, Kempes lost by some 4000, votes because he became a victim of the unpopularity of our Presidential candidate, former President Mahama.

"Mr Ofosuware has not yet come out to declare intent of running for the 2020 Parliamentary ticket for Tema East, but already many people are expecting that he will represent the NDC."
