Six officers of the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem municipality task force escaped lynching by the whisker Thursday as they tried arresting some individuals who were engaging in open defecation at Amissano, a town near the Ankaful Prisons in the municipality.

The task force was given a hot chase by the community members who were wielding clubs, machete, building blocks and other dangerous weapons ostensibly to lynch them as some individuals in the town raised false alarm that the six were thieves.

This was after they had successfully arrested a lady who was caught defecating in the open.

It took the courage of the driver of the assembly’s pick up vehicle which members of the tax force were using to scale through the blockade which the town folks had mounted .

This was after some of the members had been physically assaulted by the community members. In the process, the pickup was vandalised leaving the six with some degrees of injuries.

The police have since arrested three persons in connection with the attack with many fleeing the area.

The sanitation officer of the assembly Alex Damptey who led the police to the scene of the attack told Starr News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour the incident will not deter them.
