Dear brothers and sisters,
Following the release of the statement from the Ghana High Commission regarding the health and well-being of His Excellency, Papa Owusu Ankomah, Ghana High Commissioner to the UK and Republic of Ireland, Ghana Union wishes to convey the community’s best wishes, thoughts and Prayers for his speedy recovery.
It is our prayer for him, all our compatriots affected by this pandemic and their entire families that they recover fully from COVID-19, standing by to offer our support to our community during this difficult time.
Ghana Union echoes the sentiments of the High Commission, in that we should all be circumspect in what information we share especially in an era of continued ‘fake news’ circulated on social media.
Ghana Union wishes to take this opportunity to thank our beloved Ghanaian doctors, nurses, social care workers and all our community key frontline workers who are providing essential services across the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
Ghana Union commends your incredible efforts and bravery. You are all highly appreciated for all that you do daily, bringing the best of what it takes to be a “Ghanaian” in what you do to make our community very proud. Your commitment to duty is enormously contributing to keeping the country going throughout this global crisis.
Ghana Union humbly requests your moment of prayer and heartfelt thoughts for the sad losses experienced by our Ghanaian community to COVID-19. On behalf of the Ghanaian Community in the UK and Ireland, we extend our condolences to the families of all those who have lost loved ones at the hands of this terrible pandemic.
Ghana Union in conjunction with our community partners, Miss Ghana UK Foundation and Uncle John bakery has developed, our “Help Card” aimed at helping our elderly, the vulnerable and most deprived community members with their shopping and other essentials during this isolation, social distancing and nationwide lockdown.
