The Osagyefo Leadership International School (OLIS) at Labone in Accra, has embarked on health walk and a clean-up exercise as part of activities to mark the School’s 10th Anniversary in December.

The programme is to ensure the physical fitness and well-being of pupils, staff and management of the School and promote a clean environment.

It was on the theme: “Raising Patriotic and Ethical Leaders for Ghana through Quality Basic Education’’.

The School’s management, staff, pupils and parents participated in the exercise, which was also seen as a community service to instil leadership virtues and values in the pupils.

The participants cleaned, desilted choked gutters, weeded overgrown grasses and cleared the rubbish.

Alhaji Yusif Ibrahim, the Proprietor and Board Chairman of the School, lauded the Headmaster, Mr Seth Korgah, for the initiative and commended the participants, including the Friends of OLIS, for helping to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

He encouraged them, particularly the school children, to exhibit such leadership qualities wherever they go and provide service to humanity.

Mr Korgah, on his part, said the exercise was part of the School’s co-curriculum and advised participants to continue the good work in their homes and workplaces to ensure good health for all.

The Chairman of the Parent Teacher Association, Mr Peter Boakye Oduro, said the exercise would instil in the children the values of environmental cleanliness to grow with it.

“As members of the community, we all owe it a duty to contribute our quota to sustain the environment and to pass on the legacy to our children. The involvement of parents in this exercise is a good example to the children,” he said.
