It was an atmosphere of spectacular display of rich cultural norms by the people of Otublohum Dadeban-Naa during the 2024 Homowo festival celebration.

The head of the Mantse Ankrah Royal Family, Nii Adjabeng Ankrah II underscored the need for unity, tranquillity, and peace among individuals within the family.

Having ascended to the role of Head of Family in 2016, Nii Adjabeng Ankrah II has been an embodiment of a unifier and an agent of peace, aiding members within the family to resolve some protracted issues.

According to the Majestic Chief, Homowo translates to “Hooting at hunger,” symbolizing the triumph over food scarcity. Hence, it was prudent for all family members to also hoot at any differences and unite as one people.

This, he reiterated, would build an everlasting sense of harmony, peace, calm, and cohesion among family members to help build a formidable family.

Clad in royal regalia, Nii Adjabeng Ankrah II and his subjects demonstrated a scintillating cultural performance on the streets where traditional food “kpokpoi” was sprinkled, accompanied by chants, drumming, and singing.

He admonished the youth to maintain a positive composure in all their doings and not to allow themselves to be exploited by individuals who seek to disrupt peace.

“Homowo is a significant time of renewal, reflection, and reconnection with one’s roots, underscored by a collective hope for peace, prosperity, and progress in the years ahead,” he mentioned.

Nii Adjabeng Ankrah II recalled that on October 30th, 2023, an Accra High Court ruled against him concerning his reign as the supreme head of the Mantse Ankrah Royal Family, but he later appealed at the Accra Appeal Court where he won the case.

"The Court of Appeal has granted the stay of execution in my favour, indicating that to maintain peace in the family, the status quo ante must be maintained until the determination of the appeal," he highlighted.

“So as it stands, I am the only legitimate Supreme Head of the Mantse Ankrah Royal Family, and I want to tell the entire world that I am the original Supreme Head given the sole mandate to continue my good works for the family,” he reiterated.
