Otumfuo Receives LLD Degree

OTUMFUO OSEI Tutu II, the Asantehene, has returned home from a week-long visit to the West Indies with an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree, from the Cave Hill Campus of the University of West Indies at Barbados.

He was among five distinguished personalities, who were awarded honorary degrees by the university, at a ceremony in Bridgetown Barbados.

According to Mr. G. B. Osei Antwi, Media Relations Manager of the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, Otumfuo Osei Tutu addressed graduands of the Cave Hill Campus of the University.

He admonished them to respond to challenges, instead of reacting to them, and reminded them on ten areas of successful leaders, which he mentioned as belief in oneself, excellence, confidence, perseverance, integrity, teamwork, identifying strengths, and non-compromising on values.

During the week-long visit to the West Indies, the Asantehene unveiled a plaque and planted a tree to commemorate the construction of a new administration block, designed in the shape of a stool, for the university.

He as well paid courtesy calls on the Prime Minister, H. E. David Thompson, and the Governor-General, H. E. Sir Clifford Husbands of Barbados
