The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has reportedly destooled the Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, at a traditional meeting at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The deposed traditional leader was reportedly found guilty on Monday after several people accused him of selling many lands to people and other damning charges.

The distraught Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II was said to be sober, as he stood in the presence of the Asantehene, with his cloth reduced to his waist level.

The deposed chief was also found guilty of lying in the presence of the sacred Golden Stool, which has been the heart and soul of Asante Kingdom over the centuries.

The beleaguered chief was also found guilty of the wrongful use of the Great Oath of the Asantehene, a crime which is considered very serious in Asanteman.

Sources at the Manhyia Palace said Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated that Nana Agyei Brempong II had committed a grievous crime against the sacred Golden Stool and Asanteman and should vacate the stool with immediate effect.

They said nobody at the meeting attempted to plead on behalf of the deposed chief as the verdict was being delivered by the Asantehene.
