Otumfuo urges churches to provide leadership to check indiscipline

Kumasi, Aug. 15, GNA - The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on the Church to provide the needed leadership to rein in the growing indiscipline, particularly among the youth. He said they should focus on helping the young people to be God-fearing and live by the cherished values of respect for the elderly, those in authority and law and order. The Asantehene said this when the leadership of the South Central Ghana Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church paid a courtesy call on him at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to introduce themselves to him on Monday.

They included the Conference President, Pastor Dr Kwame Annor-Boahen, the Executive Secretary, Pastor Akwasi Boateng, the Treasurer, Pastor Annor Boafo, the Ministerial Secretary, Pastor Francis Tuffour and the Communications Director, Pastor Christian Asare Tuffuor.

It has been the tradition of the SDA Church to hold election every four years to elect new officers to run the affairs of the conference.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu praised the SDA Church for its tremendous contribution to the socio-economic development of the nation citing, the establishment of schools, hospitals and relief services for the needy. He asked the Church to continue to work towards assisting to address the physical needs of the people as it sought to uplift them spiritually. Pastor Dr Annor-Boahen said the Church through its religious and socio-economic programmes was doing everything to help to improve the living conditions of the people.
