As the world continues to grapple with the devastating effects of the Cornavirus pandemic, with no immediate end in sight regarding the search for a vaccine, there have been several reports attributing the viral disease to being man-made or genetically modified to be used as a biological weapon.

Whereas scientists in the US have concluded that new coronavirus was “not man-made or genetically modified,” traditionalists in Ghana believe otherwise.

According to the Afrikania Mission, a neo-traditional movement which promotes African traditional religion, nationalism and Pan-Africanism, consultations with deities revealed that the fast-spreading deadly viral disease is man-made.

National Youth Chair of the organization, Fafafe Agbodzi-Sewornu, in an interview with Laud Adu-Asare on GhanaWeb’s #SayItLoud, noted that the virus was purely artificial.

He also noted that, although most of their divine priests were illiterate, consultations with them after the outbreak of the COVID-19 in the country, yielded revelations which were in direct synch with the happenings being reported across the country and globally.

Mr Agbodzi-Sewornu explained that most of the divine priests do not have access to smartphones, or the internet, their submissions were solely from the mouths of the gods.

“…just the advent of this COVID, most of our divine priests we call on them… some of them are not literate… the stories we heard, they spoke as if they always go to the internet to access information.

“COVID is artificial if somebody says God brought COVID-19 to punish us it’s a lie… it is pure from the mouth of the gods,” Fafafe noted.

The posture of the traditional group adds up to conspiracy theories as well as debates about the origin of the Coronavirus disease.

Having been first reported in the Wuhan state of China, the COVID-19 has spread to 216 countries worldwide with over 4.5 million confirmed cases and 300,000 deaths as of Monday, May 18.

In Ghana, however, the case count stands at 5735 with 1754 people recovering and a death toll of 29.
