Our programmes are accredited - Pentecost University College

Professor Kwame Boasiako Omane-Antwi, Vice Rector of Pentecost University College, has assured students and the public that its programmes are duly accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB).

He said Pentecost University College was fully affiliated to the University of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and that the Bachelor of Arts (BA) Communication programme was duly accredited by NAB reference Certificate No. NAB/PAC/000474 dated July 01, 2011.

Professor Omane-Antwi said this at a press conference in Accra in response to issues making rounds in the media in respect of the fate of some 11 students who pursued BA Communication Studies and were due to be graduated at the end of the 2013/2014 academic year.

He said the Pentecost University College had the accreditation of the National Accreditation Board to run Bachelor of Arts (BA) Communication programme; “truly, it was only the graduation of the students which had delayed by virtue of the non-completion of the programme affiliation and that graduation of the said students was not in question or in danger”.

Professor Omane-Antwi, who is also the Dean of Pentecost University College Graduate School, said there were a host of processes that affiliate universities went through to obtain programme affiliation from mentor universities for the various courses run, and this process commenced in 2011 after receiving accreditation from NAB which was still ongoing and would be completed shortly.

“We at the Pentecost University College expected that the process would be completed in due time for our dear students to graduate with their colleagues, who recently graduated. Unfortunately, the process could not be completed on time,” he said.

“However, the Management of the University is in constant touch with its mentor institution, University of Ghana, to complete the process soonest so that students can duly graduate.”

The Vice Rector said the institution had admitted that the development was unpleasant to its students, their parents and guardians as well as the various stakeholders of the university.

He said nonetheless, all should appreciate the fact that programme affiliation processes took time to complete, “and it is not uncommon to meet such challenges in the affiliation process, however the university would address the issue with all the seriousness it deserves and soon the students will be duly graduated as stated earlier”.

On behalf of Management, he assured students and the general public that the Pentecost University College would never defraud innocent members of the public adding that it remained committed to its core values and vision to empower students to serve their generation and posterity with integrity and the fear of God.
