Over 100 participate in Paragliding festival

Atibie (E/R), April 6, GNA - More than 100 foreign tourists and Ghanaians participated in this year's four-day fifth annual paragliding festival, which ended on Monday.

In all, 14 pilots from South Africa; United States of America (USA); Norway; France; Germany and Benin flew the foreign tourists and some Ghanaians from the take-off point on the Odwenanoma Mountains and landed at the Nkawkaw Park.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr Koby Acheampong in a closing remark said the Ministry would source for funds from next year's budget to develop the infrastructure on the Odwenanoma Mountains and also to rehabilitate and tar the five-kilometre road from Atibie to the mountains to enhance tourism in the area.

He commended the various sponsors of the festival, including the foreign pilots, the Ghana International Airline; Kwahu South District and Kwahu West Municipal Assemblies for their contributions towards the success of the festival.

The Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Mr Joseph Omare commended the Security Agencies and all other stakeholders for their immense cooperation and contributions towards the festival.
