The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding an unequivocal apology from Ernest Owusu-Bempah, the Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC’s request follows the Office of the Special Prosecutor's (OSP) exonerating former President John Dramani Mahama of all bribery allegations related to the controversial Airbus scandal.

Dr. Mary Awusi, Deputy Director of Inter-Party and Civil Society Relations for the NDC, made this demand during an interview on the Citizen’s Show with Nana Otu Darko on Accra 100.5 FM on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Dr. Awusi emphasized that Mr. Owusu-Bempah should offer an apology to the former President for the undue stress caused by what she described as a "sinister petition" to the OSP.

She urged Mr. Owusu-Bempah to take responsibility and acknowledge his mistake, suggesting that offering an apology would demonstrate his integrity.

Dr. Awusi insisted that, given the OSP's clearance of former President Mahama, it is now imperative for Mr. Owusu-Bempah to do the right thing and publicly apologize.

Meanwhile, the Fixing the Country Movement, led by Ernest Owusu-Bempah, was the first to petition the OSP in September 2023, calling for an investigation into the matter.

The group has consistently expressed its commitment to fighting corruption in Ghana.
