Nii Borlabi Kukubi Okanshan VI, Chief of Oyibi has said in spite of the increase in churches in communities, immorality among the youth such as teenage pregnancy, indiscipline, drug abuse and armed robbery are on the ascendancy.
Nii Okanshan who was delivering his New Year Message at Oyibi in the Kpone-Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, attributed the increase of such acts to broken homes, the expansion of spots and video centres, and urged the churches and the National Commission for Civic Education to intensify their evangelism and education to arrest the situation.
Nii Okanshan appealed to parents to collaborate with teachers in the education of their children to enable them to grow to become useful citizens.
He called for the re-introduction of Scripture Union in Basic Schools as a way of giving the children moral education.
On infrastructural development, Nii Okanshan said an ultra-modern ICT Laboratory had been completed and that a large tract of land had also been earmarked for a Police Station and a market, while the Oyibi-Ashiaman road had been awarded on contract to improve upon the living standard of the people.
