The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has sharply criticized the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and given its internal auditor, Ridwan Kokroko, a two-week deadline to account for 'missing' GH¢110,000 in revenue.

The Auditor-General's report disclosed that six revenue collectors at the AMA failed to deposit GH¢151,000 into the assembly's account.

AMA officials stated that a portion of the funds had been recovered; however, GH¢110,000 remains unaccounted for.

PAC chairman James Klutse Avedzi attributed the situation to the internal auditor's negligence and emphasized that Kokroko must provide a receipt for the funds within two weeks, or he will be compelled to refund the amount.

"Don't assume that this committee is uninformed. You are failing in your duties as an auditor.

"You are indeed failing! I cannot accept that an officer's illness is the reason a file cannot be retrieved.

"We are allotting you two weeks to locate the file and present it to the auditors to verify that the GH¢110,000 has been lodged. Should you fail to do so, we will hold you responsible for the payment of the money," he cautioned.
