Workers of the Produce Buying Company this morning picketed at the head office of the company at Dzorwulu, in protest of what they describe as management inefficiency.
The workers who were drawn from various parts of the country, were clad in black and red attires, and carried placards conveying messages of their grievances mostly against the top administration of the company.
“Incompetent Kofi Owusu must go”, one placard calling for the dismissal of the CEO read. Others read “executive management lack vision”, "loose talker CEO", "we want to work to earn a living", "say no to 73 and 83 years old”, "political manipulation", among others.
Rev. Solomon Kortey, General Secretary of the Industrial Workers Union (ICU), which PBC falls under, however sought to calm tempers. He indicated that president, Akufo-Addo has heeded to the calls of the workers by establishing a committee to look into issues of the company.
The General Secretary also said government, as part of addressing the concerns is going to issue a bailout to help the company deal with its current financial problems, which is threatening the collapse of the company.
He therefore urged the workers to wait on the committee as he believes it will deliver the groundwork necessary for revamping the company to its winning ways.
