PHARMAsee wins 2015 'Hack for Big Choices' in Accra

The group PHARMAsee won the 2015 edition of the three-day event held in Accra which ended on Sunday, February 22, 2015.

The event brought together students, local business leaders, health care professionals and others at the Hub Accra venue to battle for the crown of the best solution to challenges in Healthcare, Design & Technology, and Education.

PHARMAsee, made up of duo, Laud Bentsil and Ikeh Owoh, both from Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, were awarded a year’s membership at Hub Accra.

The winning group, PHARMAsee, in an interview with GhanaWeb stated that they were happy winning the ultimate prize and promised to make good use of the opportunity to solve big problems, empower people and make sure the best idea materializes.

According to the winners, their main aim is to provide a drug stocking and availability of checking app where pharmacists can list their stock on the platform and buyers can search for the drugs.

The co-founder of Hub Accra, Mr. John–Paul Parmigiani, said the winners would be supported financially and with everything they need to solve the problem at hand.

He added, “With the support from our sponsors (WordPress, Facebook) we assure them that all packages and prizes will be delivered on time”.

Hackathon was hosted by Hack for Big Choices and Hub Accra. Hack for Big Choices is a global movement to empower talented people and aid them to solve problems by developing products and businesses. Hub Accra is an innovation and coworking space that is a growing startup ecosystem in Ghana.

The event sponsored by Word press, and Facebook had participants from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo and Ivory Coast. The competition which was organized in groups was tasked to channel their diverse experience and skills to battle out for the prize of the best solution in Healthcare, Design & Technology, and Education.
