On this week's edition of Newsfile, some prominent issues that made the headlines during the week will be featured.
A video which went viral captured the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo who sought to take credit for the Kwabenya Senior High School as she claimed she lobbied the World Bank for its construction.
But Deputy Minister of Education under the NDC administration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa described the claim as “outright falsehood”.
Meanwhile, the World Bank has denied dealing with individuals for any development project. The international financial institution says it deals with governments and does not play any role in the internal politics of the day in any of the countries it operates in.
Also to be discussed is the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited contaminated fuel scandal as the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) is on the heels of Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, the immediate-past Managing Director (MD) of the company, over some alleged payments and withdrawals from the government’s account.
Awuah-Darko has sued Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong for defaming him and is claiming a sum of GHC5million in damages. The CEO of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, Senyo Hosi has also brought GHC8 million defamation suit against the outspoken MP.
Another issue which will be up for discussion is Kennedy Agyapong’s claims that the NPP won the 2016 elections through crude means. He has threatened to expose the party in retaliation for threats to sabotage his business.
