The national treasurer of the PNC, Akane Adams has described as unfortunate the arrest of the national treasurer of the party, Bernard Mornah.
Mr. Bernard Mornah was arrested by the Nima divisional police on December 16 for allegedly participating in a public procession which the police described as illegal.
The treasurer said " this news came as a shock to the PNC since such arrest could be a tantamount to an affront on our democracy to curtail citizens of their freedom and right of expression."
This was contained in a press release on behalf of the party following the arrest of Mr. Mornah on Saturday December 16.
He also stated that the PNC was not aware and did not sanction its National Chairman's involvement in that public procession.

BERNARD MORNAH ARREST UNFORTUNATE. PNC TREASURER.
It has come to our notice that our National Chairman Bernard Mornah has been arrested and detained at the Nima Police Station on the 16th December, 2017 for an act described as an illegality by the police for his participation in a public match/procession.
This news comes to the PNC as a shock since such arrest could be a tantamount to an afront on our democracy to curtail citizens of their freedom and right of expression.
We are doing everything humanly possible to rescue our National Chairman out of the situation.
We also wish to add strongly that, the PNC is not aware and did not sanction our National Chairman involvement in the that public match or procession.
