PNC's Mahama condemns deception, dishonesty in political messages

Accra, July 2, GNA - Dr. Edward Mahama, presidential candidate of the People's National Convention (PNC), on Wednesday urged political parties to focus on developmental issues in their campaign messages instead of using deception and dishonest strategies to get votes. He said candidates campaigning for national office tended to ignore developmental issues that affected the lives of people directly in terms of improving their lives and their material well-being and deny the electorate the opportunity to monitor and evaluate the messages.

Dr Mahama who raised these concerns in a statement he issued noted that, the PNC was consistently honest in dealing with issues that would strengthen the democratic process.

"The PNC is committed to make Ghana increasingly self-reliant and rid our people of the dilemma of a very wealthy country in which an increasing majority is getting systematically poorer and poorer." He stressed that there was too much deception, stating; "Politics of deception is currently floating around the nation." Dr Mahama urged Ghanaians to vote for the PNC, saying that the party had been consistent with its messages and had been honest and giving practical ideas on how the country could move forward.
