PNC supporters urged to respect party structures

Begoro (ER), Jan. 1, GNA - Mr Yakubu Salifu, Eastern Regional Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), on Friday advised party supporters to respect the party's structures, bury their differences and come together to enhance the fortunes of the party in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. Addressing a meeting of party supporters at Begoro in the Fanteakwa Constituency on the latest developments in the party on Saturday, he challenged a group calling itself the committed people within the PNC to exhibit a high standard of discipline and to refrain from actions that would undermine the progress of the party.

Mr Salifu said he did not see any leadership problem in the party at the moment. He said the 93hullabaloo" about leadership in the party was rather due to pettiness and pull-him-down attitude among the rank and file by some members. He said it was wrong for Northerners to think that the party belonged to them because the founder of PNC came from the north. Mr Salifu said, "This is the time the PNC should think about how to win power so as to initiative and improve democratic rule, human rights, good Governance under a pragmatic economic policies".

Alhaji Umoro Issaka, Regional Chairman of the party, advised the executives to work hard and refrain from always supporting other political parties to come to power. He said the Eastern Region recognized the current National Executives unless congress decided otherwise. He therefore urged all regional Chairmen to kick against the "selfish and malicious move by Dr Tobiga and his supporters who are parading themselves as committed members of the party."
