PNC urges nation to unite in coming year

Accra, Dec 29, GNA - The People's National Convention (PNC) on Thursday urged Ghanaians to strive towards building a nation of unity and strength in the coming year.

"Let us grow on our different political convictions not as enemies but as builders together of God's people." A release signed by Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama, Leader of the PNC, observed that set backs had bedevilled the nation's attempts at achieving unity since independence.

"Every now and then we attempt to climb up in our desire to build and give the best to our families, loved ones and nation but the very people who should offer help and encouragement fail us," it said. The PNC observed, however, that there was hope for the future saying, "every time we walk in faith and give hope to others Christ's birth is magnified".

It said there was the need for Ghanaians not only to strive to improve upon themselves in the coming year but also to invest positively in others.

It said the ability to respect contrary views was necessary in ensuring peace. The statement acknowledged that in spite of differences there was the need to aim for the unity of the nation and that should form a great source of strength that had to be sought after with utmost zeal. The PNC urged the political leadership to lead the country in a manner that would inspire confidence, hope and trust among the people. 29 Dec. 05
