POTAG threaten strike on May 3

Members of the Kumasi Polytechnic branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana are threatening a strike action next week over unresolved conditions of service.

The group is accusing the national leadership of failing to defend the interest of polytechnic teachers.

The Kumasi chapter chairman Edmond Peprah told Joy News, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has failed to address their concerns despite several reminders.

He said an emergency national congress was held at the insistence of the Kumasi polytechnic on the matter but national POTAG has not given any explanation as to why the FWSC has not addressed their conditions of service.

He said from 2007 there has not been clear-cut indication as what steps the FWSC is taking to improve upon their conditions.

He said FWSC has until May 3, 2013 to resolve their grievances, failure which they will take necessary action.
