PTA provides school with bus

Ajumako Bisease C/R), Feb. 16, GNA - The Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of Bisease Senior Secondary Commercial School has presented a polytank and a bus to the school.

The chairman of the PTA, Mr. John Amoah who presented the items to the headmaster, Mr. Mark Mensah at a ceremony at Ajumako Bisease, said lack of an administrative block was a major headache for school authorities and the PTA. He appealed to the government, the Ghana Education Service, the district assembly, GETFUND and philanthropists to help build a permanent administrative block for the school.

Mr. Amoah said a building meant for a classroom was being used as the administrative block and this had created classroom shortage for the school whose enrolment continues to increase. He said the school has a student population of 1,212, there are 72 students in a class and eight additional classrooms are needed to enhance effective teaching and learning. Mr Mensah thanked the PTA for its contributions towards the development of the school and said the association had also provided it with some staff bungalows and a hostel for boys. Mr Mensah said the school has a bright, adding that out of 330 students presented for WAEC examination last year, only one student failed.

The PTA secretary, Mr. Lucky Ahiekpo, said with the provision of the bus in additional to 33-seater by the GETFund, the transportation problem of the school had been solved.
