PUC admits 480 students

Abetifi(E/R),Oct. 4,GNA-The Presbyterian University College(PUC) has admitted 480 students to pursue various courses on its campuses at Abetifi, Akropong-Akuapem and Asante Akyem Agogo this academic year. The University College which started with 55 students in November 2003, now has a student population of 1,000 on the three campuses out of which 41 per cent are females.

The Principal of PUC, Professor Kofi Sraku-Lartey, said this at the seventh matriculation ceremony of the University at Abetifi. He said the PUC was offering courses in Bachelor of Science(BSc) in; Business Administration, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mathematics, Nursing ,Environmental and Natural Resources and Rural and Community Development. The Principal said the various course structures allowed flexibility whereby students who cannot attend regular lectures are given the opportunity to attend lectures at the weekend and during the long vacation.

He said the PUC in collaboration with the Kwahu Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana through its outreach centre had embarked on small scale cultivation of crops and animal husbandry at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana's Agriculture station at the Afram Plains. Prof. Sraku-Lartey advised students to take advantage of the school's conducive learning environment to make good on their aspirations and dreams for the future. In an address read on his behalf, Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, urged the PUC to pursue programmes which would improve the living standard of the people.
