Nana Okofrobour Kwakye Danso II, Paramount Chief of Dwan Traditional Area, who is known in private life as David Gyaki Danso has petitioned the National House of Chiefs following the installation and registration of the form of Dr. Narbi Donkor as the Paramount chief of Dwan Traditional Area.

He said his disagreement is based on the letter dated 16th June, 1997 with Ref. No. DTC/ADM/6/SF3 signed by the then Acting Registrar Mr. Asumah George of the Dwan Traditional Council.

According to him, the letter clearly states that the late Nana Akwasi Afura III known in private life as Mr. Akwasi Donkor who hails from a recognized royal family was traditionally nominated, elected, installed and was further made the Omanhene of Dwan Traditional Area on 2nd June, 1997 through the turn and ticket of the second gate royal family. Nana Okofrobour Kwakye Danso II revealed that Nana Akwasi Afura III ruled as the Paramount Chief of the Dwan Traditional Area for some years before he died.

He noted that after his death Mr. Nabi Donkor came to succeed him and in claim he is from the first gate royal family which the then Queen Mother and the Kingmakers disagreed because he late Nana Kofi Banka II came from the same first Gate.

He further noted that the late Queen Mother made it clear to Dr. Nabi Donkor that it was the first gate candidate who died and therefore they could not install another person from the same gate but rather someone from the second gate and subsequently I stalled the late Nana Akwasi Afura III.

He stated that Dwan Paramount Stool Gates are three including first, second and third and the succession of the Dwan Stool rotates in that order.

He said it is now the turn of the third gate that’s why he David Gyaki Danso was legally nominated, elected and enstooled with stool name Nana Okofrobour Kwakye Danso as the Paramount Chief of Dwan Traditional Area.

Nana Okofrobour Kwakye Danso II therefore called on the National House of Chiefs through the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs in ensuring that the right thing is done.

In a related development, the Paramount Queen Mother of Dwan Traditional Area, Nana Narbi Dengah II, has petitioned the National House of Chiefs against what she described as a self-acclaimed Queen Mother of Dwan Traditional Area who endorsed the Chieftaincy Declaration forms of Narbi Santo II as the Paramount Chief of Dwan Traditional Area.

Speaking with the media, Nana Narbi Degah II said her petition became necessary because her attention as the only legitimate Queen Mother of Dwan Traditional Area has been drawn to the fact that someone has illegally and secretly endorsed the Chieftaincy Declaration Forms of Narbi Santo II for registration as the Paramount chief of Dwan Traditional Area.

She said she was enstooled as the Queen Mother of the Area in 18th September, 2014 at Dwan.

She said she succeeded Nana Gyawukye as the Queen Mother of Dwan according to the customs and traditions of Dwan. She explained that sine her enstoolment no one has been enstooled as the Queen Mother of Dwan and therefore she have no competitor regarding her position as the Queen Mother of Dwan Traditional Council.

She emphasized that the endorsement of the Chieftaincy Declaration forms of Narbi Santo II was done without her notice as the legitimate Queen Mother opf Dwan.

Nana Narbi Dengah II has therefore called on the National House of Chiefs to as a matter of urgency take the necessary steps to withdraw the name of Nana Narbi Santo II from the Chieftaincy register to avoid any inconveniences.
