Paramount chief calls for unity in traditional area

Anfoega (V/R), Aug. 10, GNA - The Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, has called for unity and peace to prevail in the area to enhance rapid socio-economic development. Togbe Tepre Hodo made the call during his first familiarization tour of the area to acquaint himself with the problems confronting the people and initiate strategies to solve them.

At separate meetings with the chiefs and people of Anfoega-Wuve, Tokome, Agata and Agatanyigbe on Tuesday, he announced his plans to wage war on drug trafficking and drug abuse in the area.

Togbe Hodo called for the rekindling of communal labour spirit among the people and asked divisional chiefs to establish community libraries to improve the standard of education in the area. He asked the people to stop unnecessary litigation and concentrate on how best to develop the area.

The Paramount chief asked parents to sacrifice a little on the education of their children to enable them to become good future leaders.

He asked them to embrace the National Health Insurance Policy by registering and paying their premiums regularly.

Togbe Hodo said efforts were underway to rehabilitate the Anfoega Catholic Hospital to halt referral cases to other hospitals. He promised to re-roof the Anfoega-Wuve Junior Secondary School building, which was ripped off by rainstorm, before schools re-open in September.

A sub-chief of Anfoega-Wuve,Togbe Kpobi III, appealed for the industrialization of the 'White Clay' deposit in the area to generate employment for the youth.
