A cross section of Parents interviewed by the Daily Graphic newspaper have expressed grave concerns about the 50% increase in boarding fees for second cycle schools from C2000 to C3000 a day.
They described the increase, which was announced yesterday by the Ghana Education Service as unbearable since the increase is beyond the means of ordinary workers whose daily minimum wage is not even up to C3000. In a random interview in Accra, the Parents contended that although the increase may be a reflection of the current economic problems, parents cannot afford to sacrifice all their income on their children’s education at the expense of other needs and the smooth upkeep of their homes.
