The Parliament of Ghana has reassured Ghanaians of its commitment to maintaining transparency in matters related to the swearing-in of the 9th Parliament and other parliamentary business.

During a press briefing at Parliament House on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Gifty Twum Ampofo, the Chairperson of the Planning Committee of Parliament, stated that the institution will provide regular updates on the transition process from the 8th Parliament to the inauguration of the 9th Parliament in order to foster trust among the public.

"Transparency remains at the core of our mission. Recognising that trust is fundamental in a successful transition, we will provide regular updates through press briefings, social media platforms, and official reports," she said.

Twum Ampofo expressed optimism for the incoming 9th Parliament, highlighting both its potential to drive national development and the challenges it may face.

"While we are optimistic about the transition, we acknowledge the potential challenges. Political transitions can be complex, involving differing opinions and perspectives."

She added, "As we look forward to this new chapter in Ghana's governance, let us remember that this transition is not merely about changing leaders but about continuing the collective journey toward progress, development, and national unity."

President-elect John Dramani Mahama will be sworn into office on January 7, 2025, along with the newly elected Members of Parliament.
