Ghana’s President, Mr. John Mahama, has said his country will not allow itself to be short-changed by foreign development partners in its quest to pursue economic development.
Mr. Mahama made the comment when addressing the media upon his return from the fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Japan, where he negotiated with the Japanese government, to revive its support to the country under the Yen Loan portfolio.
He said although his government is soliciting support from development partners, the utmost interest of Ghana will be safeguarded at all time.
“…What we’ve been talking about over the last four days is how to create a win-win situation; I mean no country is a charity house that they will just take money and come and give it to you for free. It also expects that its business will benefit from it”.
“Now, how you engage with each country to ensure a win-win both for the investing country and your own country, is the most important thing”.
