Party Organiser calls for sacrifice

Agona Swedru (C/R), June 15, GNA - Mr Lord Commey, National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the Party members to do more sacrificial work rather than demanding money for undertaking Party activities.

He said their loyalty commitment and dedication would enable the party to win massively in Election 2004.

Mr Commey noted that "if state resources are needed before elections are won, then NPP would not have come to power in 2000". Mr Commey, who was speaking at the fund raising dinner organised by the Agona East constituency branch of the Party, said the National Executives had separated Party activities from the Government to ensure good governance.

He said the Party had done more than what it was expected to do within three and half years and Ghanaians would surely give the Government a second mandate to rule the country. Mrs Sophia Horner-Sam, Western Regional Deputy Minister, said the Party had learnt a great lesson when it was in opposition and it would not make mistakes, which could deter Ghanaians from giving the Government another mandate.

She said the members learnt how to contribute from their meagre resources to support the Party up to date. Mrs Sam stated that there was the need for members to intensify their campaign to enable the party to continue its good work.

She called on Agona East constituency supporters of the Party to adopt fresh measures and package their campaign message well to help the Party to win.

Nana Kojo Frempong, Agona East Constituency Organiser of the Party, enumerated problems they went through in the previous presidential and parliamentary elections due to inadequate financial resources. The Constituency Executives had divided the constituency into eight zones to assist them undertake serious house-to-house campaign to wrest the seat from the NDC. 15 June 04
