Pastor &Mrs. Damson Oppong Voted into Membership of a New Church

Pastor Damson Oppong and his wife, Linda, were voted into the membership of the Ruth Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Brampton on Saturday, December 20, 2014.
For over ten years, Pastor Damson Oppong was the Senior Pastor at the Toronto Ghanaian and the Heritage Ghanaian SDA Churches in Toronto until September, 2014 when he was transferred to the Ruth SDA Church in Brampton by the Ontario Conference of SDA Church. He has also been appointed to serve as a member on Executive Committee (Board) of the Conference.
Preaching after his acceptance into the membership of the Ruth SDA Church, Pastor Oppong used the occasion to draw the attention of the congregation to the season-Christmas. He based his homily on Isaiah 9:6 (For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;…….And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace).
He dubbed his sermon, “Wise Men Still Seek Him” and likened the journey of the wise men (of Bible times) to see Jesus when He was born to three journeys that any serious Christian of today ought to embark upon: Journey of Faith; Journey of Service; and Journey of Sacrifice! He said that though the wise men were at the palace of ‘king’ Herod they did not worship because the KING was not there. When they saw the baby Jesus born in the manger, they worshipped Him. Pastor Oppong therefore admonished Christians to worship the true King, Jesus, and not themselves or their possessions. He stressed the point that when one truly encounters Jesus, ‘the pride of life’ gives way to worshipping the true King!
Pastor Oppong finally called on the world to use the season to reflect on the kingship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and sincerely worship Him in spirit and in truth. The congregation at the end of the service heartily and happily sang the hymn-Joy to the World!
Ghanaian News wish Pastor Damson Oppong God’s guidance in his leadership at his new church. To God be the Glory!
