Pastor advises Christians against worldliness

Pastor Patrick Amankona, an Administrator at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Sunyani, on Friday advised Christians to disassociate themselves from worldly pleasures, that displeases God, as they celebrate Easter.

“We should not allow self-will to control our lives, but rather let the will of Jesus Christ to dominate and direct our lives,” he said, when he preached on: “The crucified life,” at an Easter retreat of the church at Ayakomoso, near Nsoatre in the Sunyani West District.

The three day-retreat, under the theme: “The power of His cross,” is being attended by about 1,500 members of the church drawn from the various locations and districts in the Sunyani division.

Pastor Amankona said Christianity is a way of life, and Christians ought to sacrifice their self-will, mind, heart and entire body to God.

He noted that suffering, temptation, failure, lack and delays in prayers are all part of Christianity, but temporary setbacks.

The Church Administrator said Jesus Christ offered himself as a sin sacrifice to empower Christians to live godly lives, adding that some so-called religious people proclaim to be Christians and continue to live in sin.

Pastor Amankona entreated Christians to use the occasion to reflect on their spiritual life and called on backslided Christians to retrace their steps to Christ.

He warned that Christians who engage themselves in worldly pleasures and amusements would not escape earthly and eternal judgments, and advised them to adhere to biblical principles and teachings to win God’s favour here and hereafter.
