Pay Water Bills At the Post Office

Water bills can now be paid at the counter of any post office in the country.

Miss Sussie Mensah, a Board member of GWCL, formally launched the collection of GWCL bills by Ghana Post at its post offices throughout the country last Wednesday.

Mr. Isaac Addo Boahen, MD of Ghana Post said letter revenues are dwindling because of technology. Postal organizations are therefore entering into alliances with the utilities.

The Acting Manager of GWCL, Mr. J.N.A Nunoo said water like most utility services is offered on credit. However, the consuming public has not reciprocated favorably for this vital commodity. Presently consumers nationwide owe GWCL over 160 billion cedis.

He said one reason given is the inaccessibility of GWCL collection points to customers. "Due to this we introduced the house to house collection which solved the problem partially because our meter readers and bill distributors operate within the official working hours and often they do not meet most of customers."

This, he said, influenced the decision to collaborate with Ghana Post because post offices can be found everywhere.

He said with this new system customer accounts will be updated accurately and more rapidly than before.
