Pay heed to personal, environmental cleanliness - Sheikh Nuamah

Ho, July 18, GNA - Sheikh Ishaak Nuamah, an Educationist and Theologian at the weekend advised Muslims to religiously practice personal and environmental hygiene, saying it was not enough knowing the rudiments of cleanliness.

Sheikh Nuamah gave the compliment at a forum organized in Ho by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading waste management company to sensitize Zongo communities on the importance of sanitation.

He said cleanliness was not only part of, but also an important expression of faith and commended leaders of Ho, Tamale and Wa Zongos for ensuring cleanliness in their communities and in the Mosques.

The Ho Central Mosque has a water reservoir, a well kept lavatory and neat environment with trees around the premises.

The Mosque itself is well ventilated, woolen carpeted and neatly painted.

Alhaji Hamza Danjumah, Volta Regional Chief Imam reminded Muslims to regularly clear weeds around their houses and drain stagnant waters to prevent malaria and other deadly diseases.

Mr Philip Anim, Volta Regional Environmental Sanitation Supervisor of Zoomlion asked the public to come for free dustbins for their homes to prevent littering the environment.

Mrs Issabella Gyau-Orhin, Communications Manager of Zoomlion said the sanitation campaign was to improve cleanliness and prevent diseases in the local communities.
