Paga (UE), Nov. 12, GNA - Mr. Abuga Pele, National Democratic Congress (NDC), parliamentary candidate for China-Paga constituency, said he would win the polls overwhelmingly on 7 December to retain the seat.
The parliamentary candidate said he had brought a lot of developments to the constituency and cited the provision of water and electricity and rehabilitation of roads. Mr. Pele, who is incumbent NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, was speaking at a party rally at Paga on Tuesday. He said part of his share of the MP's Common Fund was used in providing scholarships for brilliant but needy students to enable them to continue their education.
The MP said he supported the China Senior High and the Serigu Senior High Schools with educational materials. Mr. Pele said he would ensure the construction of small-scale irrigation schemes to boost farming in the area, to prevent the youth from migrating to the Southern part of the country for menial jobs. He appealed to the electorate to vote for Professor John Evans Atta Mills, the party's presidential candidate for Election 2008, so that NDC could redeem Ghanaians from theirs plight. Mr. Pele complained that some road and electrification projects initiated under the NDC administration were abandoned. Mr. Richard Adua, NDC Upper East Regional first vice-chairman, urged Ghanaians to vote for the party on 7 December. b.
