People of Koase launch two-year-development programme

Koase(B/A),Oct.19, GNA - The people of Koase within the Techiman Municipality have launched a two-year development programme estimated at 150 million cedis to improve their standard of living.

Launching the programme at Koase, Nana William Kwasi Ankomah, Chairman of the Koase Electrification Committee said extension of electricity to the town from the National Grid which begun in 1992 would be completed under the programme.

Nana Ankomah said the project would be financed with special levies of 30,000 cedis a man and 20,000 cedis a woman while non-resident citizens would pay 100,000 a man and 70,000 cedis a woman. He said in addition, a fund-raising harvest had been scheduled for the end of October, to raise more funds towards the project. Nana Ankomah said 75 million cedis had been spent to erect 50 concrete poles out of the 100 poles needed for the extension of the electricity from Techiman to Koase.

Nana Ankomah therefore, appealed to the Techiman Municipal Assembly and Mr. Addai Simmons, Member of Parliament for Techiman South Constituency, to assist them complete the project. Nana Kwaku Gyan I, Chief of Koase asked the people to contribute and work hard to implement the programme.

He advised parents to educate their children especially the girl-child.

Madam Afia Kukuro who represented Nana Apam Darkuwaah, Queenmother of Koase appealed to the youth not to indulge in anti-social vices that would affect their well being but take their education as a fundamental tool for development.
