Tepa (Ash), April 17, GNA-Teachers at Tepa Presbyterian Junior Secondary School (JSS) in the Ahafo-Ano North district have threatened to go on mass transfer by May 1, if the continued disposal of liquid and solid waste at their school compound is not stopped.
Mr Dickson Boadi, the headmaster of the school, said this during a People's Assembly held at Tepa community centre on Friday.
He said in spite of persistent appeal to the district assembly against disposal of liquid and solid waste from a public toilet and refuse dump just near the school, no action has been taken and this was posing serious health and environmental problem to the teachers and the pupils in the school.
At the meeting, many people including the paramount chiefs at Tepa and Mabang traditional areas added their voice to the problems facing the Police Service in the district and called on the assembly and the Police Administration to provide barracks, transport, telephone facilities and furniture to the police personnel.
They said at this period of frequent armed robbery attacks in the area, the police must be provided with all the essential materials and necessary assistance to enable them to discharge their duties efficiently.
Mr Boakye Acheampong, a citizen of Asuhyiae praised the government for providing electricity, clinic and three-classroom block for the local JSS as well as community library and making the Asuhyiae-Acherensua road motorable just within four years of the NPP administration.
Miss Patricia Appiagyei, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, who was the leader of government delegation, appealed to Ghanaians to be disciplined, law-abiding and pay their taxes regularly, adding that, without these, there cannot be any meaningful development of the country.
Participants at the assembly asked various questions on the recent fuel price increase, frequent power cuts, non-performance of road and electric contractors, health and environmental problems as well as delay in the implementation of the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme. April 17 05
