Philanthropist builds two classrooms for Elmina Catholic Boys

Elmina, Feb. 26, GNA - A philanthropist, Mr Peter Hammond, has built two classrooms and painted the old block of the Elmina Catholic Boys Juni or High School (JHS) at the cost of GH¢30,000.00.

Mr Hammond said at an inauguration ceremony that he decided to undertake the project following a request made by the headmaster of the school. The Headmaster had told him that more classrooms were needed to enable him admit more students from the area. He said this was after he had gone there to seek admission for his adopted son but was turned down because the class was full. Mr Hammond underscored the importance of quality education and urged all stakeholders to contribute their quota to complement government's efforts in ensuring quality and accessible education for all children in the country.

Mrs Beatrice Ankrah, the Deputy Coordinating Director of the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipal Assembly who inaugurated the facility, expressed gratitude to Mr. Hammond. The Headmaster of the school, Mr John Kobina Baah, said the new school block was initiated by the Municipal Directorate of Education but was abandoned at the foundation level for lack of funds. He thanked Mr Hammond and appealed for computers and furniture to enable the students to study ICT.
