A Philanthropist and a former President for Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON) in Kumasi University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Mr Samuel Okyere, has embarked on a two-day donation exercise to improve the lives of the people in the Akyem Anamase, Achiase Constituency in the Eastern region.
The Philanthropist who embarked on the exercise in his capacity as an organisation called Okyere’s Foundation donated assorted items and undisclosed amount of money to the Chiefs, Elders and Widows in the Constituency.
10 bags of rice, four boxes of tuna, three boxes of cooking oil, two boxes of sugar worth Ghc 2,500 and an undisclosed amount of money were donated on last Saturday to the widows in the community alleviate the hardship they are going through after losing their spouses.
45 bags of cement and five digital Blood Pressure (BP) apparatus were also donated to the Chiefs and Elders of the community on Sunday to support the construction of the community clinic projects and ensure quality health care.
Mr Samuel Okyere in an interview with the spectator said the project was part of his contribution in ensuring the community is developed.
Mr Okyere added that the Okyere’s Foundation was set up to provide assistance to the widows, orphans, less privileged and communities in hardship.
Speaking to journalist, he vowed to continue to support deprived communities and ensure access to infrastructures and amenities.
He said some Ghanaian communities needed attention and must be supported in order to impact on their lives.
He pleaded with some other Non-profitable Organisations and philanthropist to help support the course in helping deprived communities and societies with development and economic hardship.
For his part, the Member of Parliament (MP) and the District Chief Executive Officer (DCE) of the Achiase District [both names withheld] commended Mr Okyere for his good gestures and entreated him to play a key role in the development agenda of the constituency as a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party.
