Photojournalist commended for helping improve communities

Mr. Geoffrey Buta, a photojournalist with New Times Corporation has been awarded for his project, Foto4Change, which is using photography to expose challenges people face in their communities especially children.

His project was meant to attract the attention of individuals and organizations to assist his chosen communities.

Mr. Buta was awarded by Reach for Change, an initiative supported by Tigo to help improve and support needy communities.

Ms. Amma Sefa-Dedeh Lartey, Regional Manager, Africa, for Reach for Change, who presented the People Choice Award to Mr. Buta and other award winners at a ceremony in Accra, said their actions are commendable and need a holistic emulation for a better society.

She expressed gratitude to the award winners for their ideas that would help contribute to improving the lives of children in the country.

Ms. Giulia Tavolato, Reach for Change Programs Manager in Ghana, urged the awardees to use their talents to impact lives positively as well as contribute to the development of the country especially through transforming children to become better people in the future.

Mr. Geoffrey Buta said he is content with the award especially when some corporate organizations are ready to support the needy communities he had captured in his project.

He entreated other journalists to use their profession in improving our society.
