Photos: Parts of Koforidua, Kumasi flooded

Parts of the Eastern Regional capital city of Koforidua have been rendered unmotorable as a result of torrential rains from last night, March 12.

Most residents of the city have been trapped in their homes as city officials, including officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), are on the ground working to rescue the situation.

Mainly affected is the Nkukwao Highway in the central business district of Koforidua.

Preliminary findings by officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) said small-sized drains and attitudinal problems are the cause of the disaster.

Meanwhile, there are reports of a similar situation in some parts of Kumasi after a rainstorm on Thursday night.

Suburbs like Kaasi, Ahodwo and Airport Roundabout are reported to be flooded.
