The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Major (rtd) Courage Quashigah, has suggested that the CSIR be placed directly under the Presidency to enable the country to derive maximum benefits from its activities.
According to him, the institute is a major policy unit of the country, since it conducts a variety of researches into all aspects of human activity, and stressing the need to tap adequately its findings to promote the country’s development agenda.
He made the call when a 12-member delegation of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences called on him in Accra yesterday.
The delegation was led by the President of the Academy, Nana Dr. S.K.B. Asante.
The visit formed part of the Academy’s efforts to interact and exchange ideas with policy makers.
