The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, Hon. Maame Pokuah Sawyerr has organized her 7th Annual Christmas Party for Five Thousand (5000) children in Agona Jacob a ward in her constituency, to put smiles on the faces of the children.
This end of year party is the 7th in a row after she successfully organized similar occasions for the past six years for children across six out of the ten wards that made up the Agona East Constituency.
The 5000 children who were drawn from the various wards were treated to good music whilst they feasted with their MP and other ward executives.
Addressing the children at the party, the Honorable MP Maame Pokuah Sawyerr indicated that the Christmas party has been an occasion she established before she became Member of Parliament but saw the need to continue in that spirit of putting smiles on faces of children and making them experience the joy of Christmas aside what their parents would have done for them.
Although Maame Pokuah Sawyerr is mourning her late mother, one would have thought her loss would affect the organization of this year’s event.
But according to her, her mother’s demise rather energized her to bring the children together once again to eat, drink, dance and receive gifts from her since that, would be the wish of her late mother.
She said there is no doubt that the Agona East parliamentary seat which hitherto, was a swing for both the NDC and NPP over the past years, has now become a preserve for the NDC and that through her hard work and the dedication of Constituency executives, she is able to hold onto the seat. She promised to ensure that the seat never go the other way.
In an interview, Hon. Pokuah Sawyerr averred that apart from organizing end of year Christmas Party for children in her constituency, she is also feeding all JHS, SHS students during their final year examinations.
She called on her constituents to offer her the needed support so as to continue delivering on her promises towards ensuring growth and development of Agona East.
The Chief of Agona Jacob who was elated at the whole event could not thanked the MP enough than to pray for God’s guidance and pledged his and the support of the entire Agona Jacob community in retaining her as their MP.
The Chief also expressed gratitude to Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr for making the welfare of their children her priority and hope that the MP will continue and extend similar gesture to the remaining three wards, which the MP gladly indicated she will.
The event was supported by Indomitable, which fed all the 5000 children with their delicious delicacy from their noodles.
