Akrofuom (Ash), April 23, GNA - The Police Administration has approved an unspecified amount of funds for the construction of a permanent police station at Adansi-Akrofuom.
Mr K. Appiah-Pinkra, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akrofuom, who announced this, said to complement efforts of the Police Administration, the Adansi South District Assembly had already released 100 million cedis in support of the project.
Mr Appiah-Pinkra made the announcement in response to complaints raised by contributors at a People's Assembly held at Akrofuom in respect of the limited number of police stations in the District and the lack of permanent accommodation for police personnel.
The MP said apart from Akrofuom, strenuous efforts were being made to have a number of police stations in other communities.
He mentioned New Edubiase, where the chief had already released a stretch of land for the construction of a modern police station and appealed to other chiefs and community heads to release land to the Police Administration to implement such projects in their areas. Presently, there are only three police stations in the District, which are located at New Edubiase, Atobiase and Akrofuom, and all these stations are housed in rented or temporary structures.
