Bolgatanga,(Northern Region) 14 Oct. The Bolgatanga community tribunal has advised police personnel not to allow the service to be used as a debt collecting agency. Mr. Gabriel Odame Adufo, chairman of the tribunal gave the advice when he discharged Azumah Alandi, a fish monger at the Bolgatanga market who appeared at the tribunal charged with engaging in fictitious trading. The prosecution said Alandi, collects smoked fish from women from the central region to sell. In September this year, she collected 240,000 cedis worth of smoked fish from Madam Esi Bronya, a fish monger from Winneba to sell but refused to pay her. Mr. Adufo said evidence before him does not support the charge of fictitious trading since the woman is an established trader and advised Madam Bronya to institute a civil action to claim her money. Three other persons who brought similar charges against Miss Alandi had their cases thrown out by the tribunal.
