Police Withdrawn From Barriers

The police Administration has withdrawn policemen from barriers around the capital.

A report monitored on Adom 106.3FM at Tema last night said that following the withdrawal, criminal and smuggling activities on the highway are on the ascendancy.

The report named barriers at Ofankor, Weija, Adenta, Ashaiman and Kpone being widely open for everything to go through to and from the capital, Accra.

The IGP, Mr. Ernest Owusu-Poku who confirmed the story said the withdrawal is on an experimental basis.

According to him, statistics available indicates that too many personnel are posted to the barriers checking vehicles, while fewer men are seen undertaking patrol duties.
