Wa, June 17, GNA - Assistant Commissioner of Police, Robert Ayalingo, Upper West Regional Police Commander, on Saturday gave the assurance that the police were focused to protect lives and property in the region to enhance development.
He said the police were committed to their work to sustain the prevailing peace in the region, especially in Wa to enable the people undertake their daily activities without fear or hindrance. ACP Ayalingo gave the assurance at a send off party for Deputy Superintendent of Police Peter A. Ndekugri former Upper West Regional Police Commander who is now on transfer to the Western Region at Wa. He urged the people to cooperate with the police to secure sustainable peace in the region.
"Even though the police are not angels, their directives and decisions were in good faith and interest of the public, therefore people should not see them as enemies when they commit crimes against the law," he added.
ACP Ayalingo appealed to motor riders in the region, especially those at Wa to wear helmet to protect their lives. He pledged to consolidate achievements made by his predecessor to sustain peace in the region.
DSP Ndekugri appealed to the people to live peacefully with each other to sustain the prevailing peace in the communities. He called on them for cooperation with the police to build on the sound foundation laid for the region's rapid development. Mr David Yakubu, Upper West Regional Coordinating Director urged police personnel to educate their children well to make them responsible citizens in future. 17 June 07
