Police arrest 15 people in connection with the death

Obuasi, Oct. 10, GNA - Obuasi-Tutuka Police have arrested 15 people including two women in connection with the death of a nine-year-old girl, Adwoa Dwantoah at Pomposo near Obuasi.

Among those arrested are a popular man at Kwabenakwa near Pomposo who had styled himself as a doctor, herbalist and a fetish priest, their names are being withheld by the police for further investigations. Police sources told newsmen that on the night of last Friday, October 6, father of the deceased Mr Kwadwo Frimpong, accompanied by his wife reported to the Tutuka Divisional Police Command that their daughter left home in the morning and had not returned.

It said in the morning of Sunday, October 8, the body of Adwoa was found abandoned in a bush near a footpath at the outskirts of the town. The body, the sources said was at an advanced state of decomposition with her panties lying beside her and blood oozing out from her "private part".

The police said the body of the deceased was intact and that no physical marks was detected on the body but they suspected foul play and those arrested would be screened for further investigations. It said the body had since been deposited at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for autopsy.

In another development the death occurred at Pomposo about a month ago of a man who spent the night at Asonkore on the Obuasi-Pomposo-Kwabenakwa road but was found dead at the outskirts of Asonkore with multiple injuries on the body.
