Police constable and one other person die in accident

Kuntanase (Ash), Dec 15, GNA- Police Constable Andrews Adusei Kwarteng stationed at Kotobabi in Accra and one Kwame Owusu who was with Kwarteng, died on the spot when a BMW saloon car driven by one Pastor George Kofi Asamoah Anim of the Christ Reformed Church (Kristo Asafo) crashed into a vehicle driven by the policeman at Piase near Kuntanase in Ashanti last Sunday.

Four people, including the pastor sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where they were admitted.

The are, Michael Appiagyei, assemblyman for Piase/Edwenase and Kwasi Addai from Nyameani who were in Constable Kwarteng's car and Pastor Anim and John Kennedy Yeboah, a student at the School of languages in Accra who were in the BMW car Anim's car.

Two others who were in the pastor's car were treated and discharged at the Saint Michael's Catholic Hospital at Pramso. Police Inspector Edward Osei, Officer in-charge of the Kuntanase police station who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said Constable Kwarteng attended his mother-in-law's funeral at Piase last Saturday, went to Nyameani on Sunday and was returning when the accident occurred.

He said the bodies were taken to KATH from where Constable Kwarteng's body was sent to the Police Hospital in Accra. When contacted, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Unit confirmed the story.
